176. HUNGARY AT WAR: CIVILIANS AND SOLDIERS IN WWII,
Cecil Eby, C,

up to now, most histories of Hungary during the war had to conform to the communist
line. In this fascinating book, the author compiled a historical chronicle of
Hungary's wartime experiences based on interviews with nearly 100 people who
lived in those years. Here are officers and common soldiers, pilots of the
Hungarian Air Force, Hungarian prisoners of war in Russian labor camps, and
many others, including the apologist for the Horthy regime and the activists
who sought to overthrow it. Also relive the Red Army's siege of Budapest
through the memories of citizens, includes photos,

342 pp.
$35.00

177. IN DEADLY COMBAT: A GERMAN SOLDIER'S MEMOIR OF THE EASTERN FRONT,
Gottlbo Biderman, S,

conveys the brutality and horrors of the Eastern Front
in detail never before available in English. Wounded five times and awarded
numerous decorations for valor, the author saw action in the Crimea and the
siege of Sebastopol, participated in vicious battles in forests south of
Leningrad, and ended the war trapped in the Courland pocket. The author
relives many interesting stories such as his miracle survival of machine gun
fire at close range, the humiliation of surrender to the Russian and his time
in captivity in the Soviet Gulags. This should prove to be the best memoir of
the Eastern Front in years,

336 pp.
$20.00

178. THE RUSSO-GERMAN WAR,
Albert Seaton, S,

Col. Seaton's classic study
remains one of the best single-volume work on this crucial theater of World
War II, a good overall chronology of the war on the Eastern Front, and
especially good in terms of describing unit operations, also one of the best
to detail atrocities on the Soviet side. This large standard work should be
in every Eastern Front library,

656 pp.

and small villages, culminating in the street fighting for Kharkov in March
of 1943. Their panoramic scope will surprise and please all readers. If you
enjoy looking at photos of German armor, uniforms, equipment and known
personalities, this book is for you. The 32 pages of artwork from Mr.
Restayn reflect his usual superb quality, showing the various German and
Russian vehicles and aircraft which were employed in the fighting. This
volume should herald the first of a number of excellent photo albums by Jean

a ground breaking study dealing with the military history of the Hungarian Army from
the early twenties through the most interesting and trying period of its
history: World War Two. The author spent twenty years writing and researching
this book which is evident by the result, one can safely say that there
doesn't exist anywhere a book that is so exhaustive in coverage of its
subject. Much of the book deals wtih WWII and even includes a complete
chapter on the Hungarian-SS, and also includes dozens of maps, tables,
shematics and orders of battle. This book is a definite must for any
enthusiast,

Among the great many topics discussed is the controversy surrounding the actions of Paul Hausser and his command decisions. The author combed the records of the SS-Panzerkorps and 4. library,

190. PANNWITZ COSSACKS, 1942-1945,
C,O, English/French text,

an unbelievable book, simply amazing! Packed with incredible photos of the Cossacks, some
believe it or not are even in color! By far the best photo coverage ever put
together in one volume on the Cossacks. There is also a significant amount of
text in the book that relates the full history of the Cossack units in the
Wehrmacht in WWII. This has instantly become one of my favorite books in my
collection, believe me it is that good, also includes photos of the weapons
and uniforms, division markings, and besides the color photos, there are
color illustrations, and color paintings! This is a quality Heimdal book
from France, but it is in English, and a bargain at this price, this book
will sell out fast,

288 pp.
$50.00

191. FINNISH AIR FORCE BOMBER SQUADRON 42,
Matti Hamatainen, C,O,

During three separate wars between 1939 and 1945, this small band of Finnish bomber
pilots flew hundreds of missions.Throughout the three wars Bomber Squadron 42
was equipped with the Bristol Blenheim. During the Winter War it sometimes
even flew with a single aircraft to bomb the attacking Soviet ranks. In the
beginning of the Continuation War in 1941 the squadron suffered heavy losses
and at times had no more than one serviceable bomber. In June 1944 the Soviet
Union commenced its major offensive at the Karelian Isthmus and the squadron
bombed the advancing enemy troops continiously. Some crewmembers flew up to
four times a day with the badly outdated Blenheim until the Finnish armistice
with the Soviet Union in September 1944. In the Lapland War, the Finns had to
fight against their former comrades in arms, the Germans. In January 1945 men
of the 42 flew their last operation, for them the war was over. This book
includes 254 b/w photos, three color photos, and is printed on high quality
paper, an excellent and unique study,

160 pp.
$30.00*

192. RUSSIAN ARMORED CARS 1930 TO 2000, J
ames Kinnear, C,O,

the most comprehensive study of Russian armored cars to date. Including more than 560
photos and drawings, it is written entirely from Russian sources and includes

has seen service in the second round of fighting in Chechya,
